ABOUT THE AUTHOR:
Michael Brearley is a former UK headmaster and is widely experienced in secondary education. He has a long-standing interest in engaging students more fully in their learning. Brearley’s applied research at the University of East Anglia (UK) focused on teacher behaviour and how it impacted on students’ learning; a later study examined the role of mediation and the work of Carl Rogers. His recent research into Emotional Intelligence has explored its practical application in the business and educational sectors, particularly its effect upon performance as a teacher and leader.
