Snapdragons offers a rich mix of different types of stories, from science fiction to fairy tales; fables to stories from around the world, there is something for everyone and it is all leveled to fit in with Oxford Reading Tree’s structure.
“Grandma’s Glasses” – Everybody in the family looks for Grandma’s glasses and they find some very useful things. “The Singing Bird” – The traditional Chinese tale of the Emperor and the Nightingale retold in simple language for the very young. “New Blue Shoes” – Ella goes shopping for some new blue shoes to wear on a special occasion. “Presents for Baby” – Everybody gives the new baby presents when they go to visit him, but then the baby give his brother a new present too. “Melting Snow” – The children build a snowman which melts away. Then Mum makes some snowman lollies. “A House for Hedgehog” – Hedgehog goes looking for a new house but none of his animal friends have houses that suit him. These are picture books with short, simple and highly predictable text. They contain a mixture of stories reflecting reality, fantasy and humour in the one pack.
