Children should be able to recognise 50 high frequency words by the time they start PM Yellow Level books. New vocabulary is introduced slowly with one new word introduced with every 20 familiar ones. Included in this level are common word endings, letter clusters and compound words as well as opportunities to focus on initial consonants and consonant blends.
