Fónaic le Fí­s is our innovative Irish phonics programme designed to go beyond sound recognition, empowering young learners not only to grasp Irish phonetics but also master reading and blending skills for a comprehensive language experience.

A systematic programme covering:

  • Phonics, and reading skills.

Blending playful approaches with explicit teaching to modernise the teaching of Fónaic na Gaeilge and make the learning experience fun and engaging for children.

We recommend Fónaic le Fís A & B be used in Stage 1 (Naoínáin Bheaga / Mhóra) in a Gaelscoil or Stage 2 (First / Second class) in an english medium school.

Time Allocations for Language 1 + 2 (Assuming tumoideachas) : 5hrs 45 Mins per week.

Advised weekly breakdown: 
5 x 30 mins of explicit phonics-based reading instruction / Phonological & Phonemic awareness at the beginning of the year. (Fónaic le Fís)
5 x 15 mins of explicit handwriting instruction (Scríobh le Fís)
5 x 25 mins of oral language instruction. 

English Medium Schools: (Stage 2)
Time Allocations for Language 2: 3 hrs per week.
